About Me

Dr. Jose Mathew serves as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Physics at The Cochin College in Kochi , Kerala. He specializes in theoretical physics, focusing on cosmology and astrophysics, with particular interests in inflation, bounce, modified gravity, cosmological perturbations, and black holes. Dr. Mathew completed his M.Sc. in Physics at the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IIT Bombay) in 2010. He then pursued his Ph.D. at the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research Thiruvananthapuram, IISERTVM, which he earned in 2017. His doctoral research, under the guidance of Prof. S. Shankaranarayanan, focused on particle physics models of inflation in modified gravity. Prof. S. Shankaranarayanan, currently a Professor of Physics at IIT Bombay, is renowned for his work in gravitational physics and quantum field theory, emphasizing early-universe cosmology and black holes. Since joining The Cochin College in 2019, Dr. Mathew has been actively engaged in both teaching and research. His expertise enhances the academic environment, and he is committed to fostering a deep understanding of physics among his students.
